F3: Forgot passcode to S-log Firmware Upgrade...

Hi --

I'm trying to uninstall the S-log RGB firmware upgrade from my F3 but it's asking for a 4 digit passcode. I installed this upgrade on my camera nearly 2 years ago and can't remember what my code was... does anybody have any tips on how I might be able to recover the password or change it? Or has anybody dealt with the same problem?

Thanks!!

I believe you selected a password at entry or used a default. Try 0000 or 1234. I know that Sony has a way of retrieving but I don't know whether it requires you to send the camera to depot. I know mine is 0000

Thanks for the insight Ned. Just tried those two options and those didn't work as well as other PINs I normally use, nothing worked. There must have been a code in the box that I typed in 2 years ago. Ugh! Sending the camera into Sony for this would be such a hassle!

Here's a thought -- do you think if I re-set camera to factory settings, that the firmware upgrade would be removed and I could re-install it freshly on a different camera? Would be curious to hear some input on that before I try it!

I would say NO! You have to transfer the license from the SxS card and you would have to transfer it back to the card, if you wanted to move it to a different camera. If you zapped the firmware back to factory default, there would be no way for the card "to know" (in a sense) you had removed it. Wait till tomorrow morning and phone someone who knows what the proper protocol for removal or reactivation.

I doubt this would work, very sincerely.

I beleive when you transfer the firmware to a camera, it locks the firmware from the SxS card. If you managed to "delete" the key from the camera, that wouldn't "release" the lock on the card.

Not advised...

**Andrew Stone beat me to it, but +1 - DON'T DO IT!
