F35 with ultra primes and tiffen digital diffusion.

Really love how it all looks this camera.
Not digging the Amira, sorry all - maybe I am a weirdo but I overall like how the F35 sees shadows and highlights and all that over the Amira - the Amira seems to kind of lack some sort of soul.

Is it just me?

Really well shot. Fantastic.
Not a fan of the grading though.

How big of a crew? Steadycam? How many shooting days?

thanks - yes I am regrading right now. I'm working off a heavily burned in rec 709 h264 - which was super rec 709y

I did the steadicam. I think it was 2 shooting days.

Amira I can't get the blues to not look electric - I am only just beginning to mess around though

Good decision!;)
It's tempting to go for sth out of the ordinary but I really felt distracted from whats happening.
But maybe the kids in the program would disagree and say "Shut it old man!".

Amira: I don't know if I have enough experience to judge, but what I've seen looks worse than stuff from the Alexa (with Alexa accepted by me as "digital cinema" state of the art).
But by now I probably have seen a lot Amira, I thought was Alexa without knowing...

I was on the Amira waiting list but ended up canceling my order. I bought a Red Epic to replace the damaged F35, but sold it not too long ago. I had a rental agreement with a friend who owns an Alexa, but lately I have just been shooting with my crappy in house cameras trying to save up for a used F65, which now discontinued by Sony should drop to a reasonable price for a used kit in 2016.

Wow. The piece looks great but I'm even more interested in this lady and her story. Is there any longer form doc in the works about the subject?

You sure F65 is officially discontinued? I think not.

I just refer to it as the incident now, but it was a very bad day to say the least. Out of state shooting for a regional restaurant chain, finished first day of shooting and stupidly left gear setup for day 2 in what we thought was a secure location. When we arrived back the next morning we found the F35 smashed in the parking lot, urinated on, and scab spray painted next to it on the asphalt. We also lost other gear like Weaver Steadman 3 axis, Cartoni Dutch head, Bartech follow focus kit, complete Cooke Speed Panchros kit, and other goodies I can't recall at the moment. The DIT lost her entire cart along with all the footage from the shoot. Long story short, inside job involving an employee and his brother who worked for the production company that had lost the gig. The saddest part was this was the last gig we were going to use the Speed Panchros on before sending them off to be rehoused. It took a long time to put together a complete set with pristine optics.

Very unfortunate. Well, agreed with yachacha - might be some interesting bits and pieces that survived. For instance - anything related to the dock mount either of the camera or IF box, is useful for modding.

The F65 is very much not discontinued. Any replacement for it is some time off. I would personally expect an announcement from Sony next year, with no actual new cameras in people's hands until 2017 really.

If you want something approaching a genuine 4K picture and you don't want to shoot RED, F65 is your only choice right now. It is an incredible machine.

I had a very enlightening chat with a senior product guy at Sony EU recently.

Really, I was told it was no longer being produced and it was to available stock.

Guess that means the prices won't drop as fast as I would have liked.

That may simply mean they have enough of them. Bear in mind there are probably only a thousand in the world - so if there's a worldwide inventory of, say, 50 unsold ones that'll probably be plenty for now.

From an accountant's perspective, the FS7 is probably a much more important model.

Wow. Sorry man. Employee from competitor company was brother with employee from restaurant?

Why smash and urinate on F35 and not steal? I guess revenge or jealous? Maybe they loose job to you because their camera was crap and they mad because you have better camera? Or why smash and not steal? When was this?
