For you Star Wars (Battlefield 1942 Gamers) Fans..

Looks like Lucas Arts finally got it right with this game! Looks exactly like Battlefield 1942, Vietnam and the Desert Combat Mod...

But they are the special edition ones. I wish he would release the actual originals.

Then go to "originaltrilogy.com" and sign the petition. Not that it will do any good, but 58,000+ people have signed it already, and if George thought he could actually sell 58,000 DVD sets... at $60 each... that's $3.5 million dollars... he might do it! Maybe.

Signed! Thanks Barry. I never considered the impact of the lost art of the artisans much as I did that I just think they are ruined. I am forwarding this too some people who probally care.

Re: For you Star Wars (Battlefield 1942 Gamers) Fa

This game looks cool. I don't have much faith in Lucasarts, though. If they did, however, get it right I'll definitely pick it up. For a quick Battlefield type of fix you can always try Galactic Conquest; it's still sort of in it's infancy, but it's a cool, free SW game (you need BF1942 to play it). The game that I'm waiting for is Battlefield 2. That game looks kick-ass; the DC boys are working on it with DICE and the 3 in-game movies that I saw look SWEET! :)

George is up to his old tricks and is planning to modify RotJ with Hayden Christensen's (sp?) image . . .

Pretty good SW article here. Based on Carrie Fisher's comments George sounds like a *great* director . . .

I've already put my name on that petition for the original SW on DVD! 8)

And, I'm still waiting to meet up with you in a DC server, John Hudson! :D

omg, please tell me that photo of hayden is fake!!! Man, Lucas just keeps falling lower and lower on my respect scale :/ Anyway, I've been drooling over Battlegrounds since I saw the first screenshots. I'm hoping that lucasarts gets it right this time. To think that they have one of the hottest video game licenses and still make crappy games bewilders me. Oh well, hope to see some of you guys online when that game hits. I'll be an imperial biker scout as they were always my favorite imperial troop. Their armor just looks so damn cool.

Re: For you Star Wars (Battlefield 1942 Gamers) Fa

I hope it rocks. it looks like they are latching onto the Battlefield/Desert Combat phenom which is fine by me! Lucasarts has a habit of making crap videogames; which eems hard to do with such a great title!

(click on the pics to enlarge)

The Enclave pwns all. 40+ tactically coordinated troops on every night, all on voice, all following orders. We pwn Tom Clancy style. With several hundered people fighting at any given battle on Planetside, we are one of the only outfits that can single handedly change the outcome of a battle. Anyone care to join?

:P

I hope it kicks ass, too. But after the big Star Wars Galaxies fiasco I'm not going to get my hopes up. If you want to see a game that will rock check out S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

http://www.stalker-game.com/

This is the game that sent HL2 back to the drawing board. You're going to have to eat, drink, and sleep in this game. There will be day and night; we haven't seen a game really implement the passage of time until this game. There will also be cigarettes and vodka. If you drink too much vodka you will get drunk. The game designers went to Chernobyl and took tons of pictures and videos to design the game with near perfect realism. There will also be realistic weather effects where it will suddenly start raining with thunder, lightning, wind, etc. This is truly a game that has me chomping at the bit. Look through the website and check it out. There are also very cool movies about the game that are worth watching. This game will probably be tension-filled and scarier than hell.

Re: For you Star Wars (Battlefield 1942 Gamers) Fa

Honestly Stalker looks like it sucks. You play alone against artificial intelligence. Lame.

I play in an outfit with 300 other real people. When we fight in Planetside there are no non-player-characters. No artificial intelligence.

Planetside is a 24/7 persistent online world spanning hundreds of miles on 10 unique continents. When I defend a base on a continent I'm defending it against hundreds, sometime thousands of real players that fight for the opposing empire. Their realtime strategies are always changing.

Everyone I kill is a real person playing the game somewhere in the world. There are no computer generated campaigns, we go where we want when we want. Its the closest thing to a massive virtual reality war game that exists.

We see a base with hundreds of enemy protecting it. Our commander (the illustrious BuzzCutPsycho) calls for a bombing raid followed by a back door bang and breach. The bomber pilots pull out their aircraft and pick up their bombers and tailgunners and we sweep the courtyard alternating carpet bombs (anti-infantry) and bunker busters (anti-vehicle). Then our 3 full transport aircraft fly over the base as 30+ of our infantry hot-drop onto the roof. Our hacker opens the door and we pour in to base tossing plasma grenades and spraying thousands of rounds of ammo at the defenders. Our support squad revives and repairs the killed and wounded. We take up a defensive position around the control console as our hacker initiates the sequence to convert the base to our control.

Every battle is different. This isn't Unreal Tournament where a dozen people fight a dozen people in a limited environment. This is thousands of people fighting for 3 different empires in an ever-changing world. Flying bombers, fighter planes, heavy tanks, light tanks, assault buggies, transport vehicles, ground support vehicles, etc., etc.

This is the closest thing to real life that exists in the gaming world.

I've been playing video games for 20 years. Right now this is as good as it gets. I will NEVER go back to playing against a computer. I play against squads, platoons, HUNDREDS of real people. It is the most satisfying gaming experience I've ever come across. I encourage any gamers to join up. I will show you the ropes. You won't regret it.
