For that you need POWER!

I was wondering if anyone has any info on why type of power source I will need to power the monitor.
So far I'm looking at the VariZoom VZ-TFT7 7" LCD Monitor.

Do I need to buy a battery and then a power converter so that the monitor can plug into it?

Please help.
Thanks again guys,
Justin

Hmmm....
Did I put this question in the wrong thread?
Steadicam = Cinematography...?
Although the battery is more of an equipment sort of thing....

Which brand and model of 'steadicam' are you buying? And yeah, the question might get a little better response in the Hardware forum.

Anyone guess the movie that line is from???

Anywho,
I was wondering if anyone has any info on what type of power source I will need to power the monitor that would go on a steadicam.

So far I can't see to find any specific info on what kind of power source is used on Steadicams.

I've got that Varizoom monitor and there are batteries that are made to attach underneath to a screw mount. One thing to know that I had to discover myself is that you can buy the battery with charger and also the battery alone. So get two or three with chargers but then just buy batteries after that. You'll save a bunch.

I have the Glidecam X-10 and it's perfect for the HVX. If I run Steadicam with a heavier camera I just rent the Steadicam for that particular gig.
Consider whether you plan to fly a Varicam or CineAlta on occasion, you'll need a hefty rig and they're pretty pricy.

Get the flyer.

Vlock batteries are best, the tiffen powercubes are expensive, but you can get batteries by a company called Swit which are fine. I got two 88w vlocks and a dual charger for £350 and they have held up fine, last for ages and are very solid.

Whatever you do, dont get the flycam.

I second that, dont get the flycam.

Most LCD monitors run on 12v DC power. So you will probabaly simply need a 12v battery (& mount) and a cable to connect it to the monitor.

Steadicam's come with monitors & battery systems built in.

Now I highly, highly, HIGHLY agree that getting the Steadicam Flyer is by far the better product and purchase than the new to the market, knock off looking, ebay store homepage, Flycam 6000.
The only issue is that the Flycam is around $6000.00 cheaper than the Flyer.
Now I have seen the noobs on this site before...

"I don't have the money for the pro stuff"

"I want to shoot now!"

Blah, blah, blah.
Well, there's a big chance that we wont have the money to get the Steadicam Flyer and we are planning on doing this shoot at the end of November. So, call me a noob! :P

I've read the reviews (the few there are) on the Flycam 6000 and for the most part, people say it is of quality construction. That mixed with the good return policy, make the deal almost too good to pass up.
Also, this horribly cheesy video looked pretty good too.

You can't tell me that to someone on a tight budget, it would not look the least bit tempting yeah?

I bet if you had used the steadicam, the Flycam would feel like a tincan in your hands.... Get finance or something, its worth it.
