I've never seen or heard of this camera. I've seen a write on a 2k camera called something like sparta about a year ago. Just curious, how different is this from a Red almost at the same price point and limited to only 2k imagery ?

Slumdog Millionaire :)

Obviously I'm a little bias, but... frankly, the image you get with this camera looks more like film than the Red One (aside from the deeper DOF.) Just take a look at the footage samples and compare. It also handles blown out light sources/highlights better than the One does (the One is markedly digital when it blows out). Having said this, I'm not trying to bash the One in any respect, but rather to just paint a picture as to how the 2K very nicely holds its own ground.

The SI-2K also boasts a custom software package (Silicon DVR) that has some features that aren't otherwise found on digital cinema cameras, including extensive touch-screen controls and remote manipulation tools. It also records direct-to-disk, eliminating the cost of expensive drives and allowing for lengthy recording times (good for certain docu/unique situations.) There are a whole slew of other benefits, including 3D applications and very manageable RAW files, just check out the SI homepage..
