Recently I have experimented a lot with regular 8 anamorphots.
I find that these tiny lenses with 1.5x anamorphic ratio are good "poor man's substitutes" of a more expensive 1.5x anamorphic lenses for crop sensor cameras.
After the Bolex/Moller anamorphot, I have tried the fixed focus Moller anamorphot. It is a tiny lens with no focusing ring. Focus with your taking lens from 4m to infinity (unless you use diopters for closer-I haven't tried that).
Lens is a bit foggy when looking through the rear element. This leads to a low contrast image that can be tweaked in post, not necessarily a bad thing.
Footage is shot with the 550d/t2i and Helios 58mm f2.0 lens. No ND filters, hence the high shutter speed and at times I had to stop down, hence some vignetting.
Handheld footage (sorry no tripod):
I have slightly tweaked the contrast and added a bit of sharpening in final cut pro.
Interesting lens for experimenting.
The lens is up for sale.
PM me for more info.
