I got this DVX100A in March 2004. I've used it on a couple of short projects. It has 36 hours on the meter. The reason I'm selling it so cheap is that the firewire port on it is bad. I've posted a few times in the forums here regarding the firewire port problem I'm seeing. Bascially, it's intermittent. But I'll just say it's bad and can't be used. Everything else with the camera, including cosmetics and functions is perfect. Just minor surface scratches on the baseplate where the tripod mounts. I've always only used MQ tapes on the camera, and the head has never been touched nor seen cleaning tape. No issues with perfornance here. I have the box and all the paper work and accessories that came with the camera. The camera was bought at an authorized dealer, I still have the warranty card which I never sent it. I don't have the time or inclination to deal with service people. So technically there's still 3 months left on the warranty period. But again, I would not count on it being fixed. I've been using a Panasonic GS9 to capture. It works great. I'll include the GS9 with the DVX100A. It's practically new since I've used it mainly for capture. The DVX100A does not come with Magic Bullet, as I bought it before the offer. The camera also comes with an extra Panasonic 5400 mA battery.
Again, everything on this camera works perfectly except the firewire port. You can still record and capture with the GS9. Most people don't capture with the DVX100A anyway. The DVX100A still plays back perfectly on its VTR. The only limitation with the bad firewire port is you won't be able to use something like DV RACK or use a harddisk recorder.
I'm selling this camera because I have decided to rent better cameras for my future projects. As I mostly want to direct, I don't shoot enough to justify owning a good camera.
I'd prefer to sell to someone local so they can see the camera all the paperwork for themselves. I'm in the So Cal area.
If you've have any questions, please ask.
thanks
