For Sale: Brand New Audio Technica AT4071a

Re: For Sale: Brand New Audio Technica AT4071a

How about $550.00? That's well over $100 off and for a brand new mic. Need to sell it to get more RAM and an indoor mic.

Re: For Sale: Brand New Audio Technica AT4071a

Verde, I am shopping for a mic. New at this. Why won't this mic work good indoors? What will you purchase? Wireless? I am looking for a good deal on a mic but havn't decided on what to buy since my first mic has to be all I will have for awhile.

Re: For Sale: Brand New Audio Technica AT4071a

The main issue for me is I want a shorter mic to mount on the camera. Since I'm a one man crew it's crucial for me. The at4071a isn't the best mic for mounting on a camera--I'm sure you can do it, but probably enters the frame when zoomed out.

Not positive what I will get, but not wireless. In general I'll probably be doing a lot of audio after the filming.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Re: For Sale: Brand New Audio Technica AT4071a

Verde, thanks for the additional information. I too am a one man show and looking for a camera mount. With all that I have read on this web site it seems you must get the mic off of the camera and close to the subject for the best audio. If that was the case your mic would be a good choice, right?

Re: For Sale: Brand New Audio Technica AT4071a

It is definitely the way to go. On camera micing is kind of hack and will not get you the best quality--especially if you're making dramatic movies. The AT4071a is an excellent professional mic that will give you great sound off the camera.

That being said I still want the option to camera mount it. I'm looking to try some more experimental, rough-cut style shooting where polish is not needed.

Re: For Sale: Brand New Audio Technica AT4071a

I know this mic is long, about 15.5 inch. How would you rate it to the Sen. Mk66? I shoot with two other guys who have the 66. Dumb question I guess, but I would like to know.

Re: For Sale: Brand New Audio Technica AT4071a

Not dumb at all. I believe there are threads here in audio about comparisons between similar mics. That is how I was led to this mic initially. I have never used the MK66 so unfortunately I cannot give you a comparison of the two. I know there is info on the ME66 around here, but not sure about the MK66...

Not that price is everything, but the 4071a lists at over $1000.00, which means you can get is around $700 new. It is a serious professional mic. From what I find online about the MK66, it is probably a level below the 4071a. Take that with a grain of salt though, since it matters how you are using them.

Hope that helps at all...sorry I can't be more specific.

Re: For Sale: Brand New Audio Technica AT4071a

There is no mic that does it all. Outdoors and indoors are totally different. 8)

Re: For Sale: Brand New Audio Technica AT4071a

every mike can do it - its only depends what you would get
if you need some kind of compromise between the directivety ( side regection) and less acustic intirals problems ( bad silling and walls:-))
you can go for hipper cardioid microphone
the mkh-50 is one of narrow hc that i know and one of the imunitate mikes for high humidity ( one of the biggest enamis for outside jobs)
only 960 euro :-)( about 1250$)
