Re: FOR SALE: ANAMORPHIC ADAPTOR(works w/ mattebox

Re: FOR SALE: ANAMORPHIC ADAPTOR(works w/ mattebox

sorry......I read that post until after I posted....BECAUSE that link didn't show on my computer until after I posted this ebay sale. What I can do is this: IF PEOPLE are iNTERESTED in buying this directly from me, I can CANCEL the ebay thing and sell to whomever wants this. Problem is, what are you guys then offering for this? Figure that this this adaptor brand new is about $700. The cost to configure it to accept a Chrosizel 411-53P series was $500. That cost would NOT be passed onto the potential buyer.....HOWEVER, if someone wants this for $700 or $750....maybe we can seal the deal. Its up to the people on this site.

Thanks.

You paid someone $500.00 bucks to shave down the shade? Is that what you are saying?

just give the details and a link to a pic
I would edit that ebay off, to avoid it bing taken off.
because most of your replies will be about the ebay and not about what you are selling
just trying to help :)

Mad Dough:

I didn't, Viacom did (CBS News). It was sent out thru them to a company called 16x9. Point is, its done. If anyone wants it....buy away.

man you sound shady ... this is a circle of trust here, don't try and break that, giving this web page (Us) a bad name
so if this deal is not legit, LEAVE IT AT EBAY. >:(

Re: FOR SALE: ANAMORPHIC ADAPTOR(works w/ mattebox

WOW. ???

RF dude, whats wrong man? You know what, I just want to sell my anamorphic adaptor. Okay, I wish I never bought it to begin with. I'm not a fan with it. Most of the stuff I shoot is 4x3 format....AND when I'm in 16x9, I just squeeze it. I have NO REASON to have pure optical 16x9 with this camera.

PLUS, if I am shooting true 16x9 its either with a Digi-Beta 700 or HD (Sony's F900). Sony D35 as well for BETA SP. I'm sorry if I offended any one for even posting this. Do I need to show you a sales receipt? As for the retrofitting it, that was a legitamite expense for the company at the time. I paid for it as well as the company. Mad Dough assumed that I could shave it myself even though he didn't know that it never got into my hands until after the retro-fitting. It went directly from the dealer to 16x9 for fitting. Then to me.

I don't know what else to say. THIS IS MY ANAMORPHIC ADAPTOR. I BOUGHT IT WITH MY OWN MONEY AND PAID FOR IT IN FULL. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PROVE IT TO YOU? DO YOU NEED A SERIAL NUMBER?

Sorry I even bother posting this. Again, if anybody is interested I would do it thru this instead of ebay, but I HAVE NEVER SOLD OR BOUGHT ANYTHING THRU THIS SITE. I wanted to give people a site a chance since people here seem to be more enthusiastic about the filmmaking process.

Lets play nice guys. The adapter has its faults but if you can shoot on a higher quality cam then there is no point using that hunk of glass. That was alot of money to do a simple procedure, but like you said whats done is done. Good luck, here or on Ebay.

Re: FOR SALE: ANAMORPHIC ADAPTOR(works w/ mattebox

What would those faults be Madman? If I want to use a dvx to shoot an indie this summer and want 16X9 isn't this adaptor my only option? Would hate to buy one to be disappointed by it later. Thanks

Re: FOR SALE: ANAMORPHIC ADAPTOR(works w/ mattebox

Mad DougK,

Agreed. We should play nice 8)

Anyway, your right $500 for that retro fitting was a lot, but it had to be done fast and I had to pick it up in New York City for the gig, so there was no time to sit down and do it right within a matter of days. So when the client agreed to help pay for it, we went in half and half. My other colleague used the camera for the rest of the shoot.

You know, over all we made it work and its a good adaptor, but since TV will still be in the SD mode for a bit, this camera works well side by side a digi beta. But yeah, since most guys here shoot for the intention of transfering to film, I would recommend this. It is a lot of glass though, so stop down to sharpen it. Barry's charts and graphs should probably be bought for more details. I don't carry those, but my adaptor has been used two times. The glass is in tact on both sides (front and back). It comes with the front and back cover, carrying pouch, and instructions (from the manufacturer).

Later.

Re: FOR SALE: ANAMORPHIC ADAPTOR(works w/ mattebox

Biglechild,

The faults I noticed is that when you are zoomed in all the way, there is sort of a focus fringing. In other words, you can't get sharp all the way.....HOWEVER, if you are shooting an indie and the subject is lit well, just stop down a bit and that will resolve the problem. Using this adaptor will give you a higher resolution then putting the camera in squeeze mode. And, since you are shooting an indie, and you DO decide to go to the full (tele) length of the lens, just make sure the subject has enough light on him/her/it so you can stop down a bit to make the image sharp.

If you were shooting a reality show or docu series or whatever, then I would bypass the anamorphic adaptor because speed is everything for those type of shots.

Ahmen to that. If you have the time the adapter is going to give you some nice images, but for the run and gun doc, better to go with the new squeeze mode.

What if this indie involves fast movements like golf swings? Ideal or not

If anyone else has an anamorphic (legit one), I'll give you a hundred bucks to use it for 6 days. Let me know. alveraz1@yahoo.com

"If anyone else has an anamorphic (legit one), I'll give you a hundred bucks to use it for 6 days"

...cute. I like how I stirred up all this legit stuff. Well mine is but its got a bid on it via ebay....at least one, last I checked with two other "watchers" so......can't help you for the 6 day rental. PLUS, I wouldn't want to rent it out since that would then depreciate the re-sale value....However, maybe someone else here has one and can help you out (as you so asked)

As for the guy who asked about golf swings....dude you should be fine outdoors in bright conditions.....(I'm assuming you'll be shooting during somewhat sunny skies). So, you'll have enough light to stop down the lens.
