For future gh1 users

This is an awesome price for three adapters.

My worry is this "a little past infinity, actually". That's not a positive thing. That means your close focus is off and so are your focal marks.

Please relay this information and have him correct that, because it may be an issue.

If he does, he'll have a great chance at snagging the market because it looks like he offers everything.

Also, is it at all possible to build adapters that retain the electronic functions across lenses? I doubt it, but it's a good question.

Thanks Car3o!

so if i understand correctly, you can use 4/3rd lenses from other manufacturers on the GH1? Or can i use my 35mm lenses?

The original from panasonic retains all the electronic information, but it retails for $189+ I'll let him know. I suggested he sign up on the boards and talk to people. So we'll see if he does that.

The electronic conversion would be nice because you can power the VR on other lenses. Not to mention auto focus, etc.

But it's not completely necessary. What is definitely important (at least to me) is accurate infinite, etc. Hope he signs up here so we can all throw ideas at him! He could probably quickly cook up some other special tid bits.

this would be great information. i currently own a nikkor 18-200 VR and Tamron 90mm Macro with plans to purchase a 50mm AF and 28mm and was wondering myself if i would indeed be able to use these lenses to their full capabilities with the upcoming GH1. I hope so because then I would be all over this cam.

Another thing. i've been hearing alot about its video capabilities but not so much on the images it produces for still photography. anyone hear anything abot this yet?

Hi guys,
I signed up now.. just my 2 cents over this
the adapter is actually a mechanic copy of Panasonic MA1 adapter (converting from 4/3 mount to m4/3 mount)
without the electronic part, it's mainly for combining other 4/3 adapters with this adapter...
without the official data from Panasonic, it's fairly difficult to make the adapter with exact thickness.. and with all the mechanic tolerance in the making process,. so in the industry,
we usually play it safe, and make it a little thinner than required..
and actually, the close focus is not affected much, Ex. say if you lens can shoot as close as 4 feet, now it is 4.5 feet. focal marks is off, but I don't think anyone will do 'scale focusing' with
G1/GH1? the live image on LVD of G1/GH1 make the manual focusing much easier than before
Something to note here: if you use a lens with this adapter (actually with any other adapters)... important is the lens need to have either focus ring or aperture control ring on the lens
So, 18-200 VR will not work good as you can not control the aperture on the lens, and unfortunately, it's set to minimum by Nikon, making it very hard to see clearly...
first time here... and will check back from time to time...

best,
R.J.

I bought a m4/3 to canon FD adapter from jinfinance-It showed up a few days ago and I must say its made very well. Now Im just waiting on the GH1- Ships to me next Friday!

So the electronic part in the MA1 is required to set aperture with an olympus 4/3 lens for example?
