For Fun

nice footage! What were you using for your dolly shots?

I haven't heard of anyone saying you need a 7D :)

maybe some help - I use 1280x720 or 860x484 for to maintain proper aspect ratios. If i need a custom size, make a 1280x720 image in any image editor, then resize it with the ratio locked. You can get whatever you need.

Thanks for you help, I was just trying to make my footage look more cinema style to seperate it from the regular 1080 and 720 look. I use a GlideTrack for the dolly shots.

Very nice! I looked at all four of your videos. You have some really nice shots and the glidetrack really adds to the vidoes. Why doesn't smugmug recognize your cropped versions as high def?

Other than the cropping, what post processing have you done - color correction, fx, etc. Some of the images seem rather "dreamy" did you do that in camera or with some NLE effect?

I used the Aspect Ratio plug-in from videocopilot.net which is free, they have a tutorial on how to use it plus many more free plug-ins. I used Magic Bullet for grading on several shots. Other then that and practice using the GlideTrack its just the Stock HMC 150. I have really been debating selling it and getting the 7D but from what I have seen I like the HMC a lot more! its great for video. I am a stock video shooter.

The thought of selling my hmc for a 7d has been in and out of my head several times. Especially since we do a lot of work with the 5d and I see how great that works. But I think I have come to the conclusion of sticking with the HMC. Personally I really haven't seen any 7d footage that has just blown my mind. And I feel like every thing I have seen I can do with my HMC as well. It is a cheaper alternative to buying and 35 adapter (After sale of the HMC) but is DOF really the only advantage to the 7d?
