Football Project Approaching- Suggestions?

Suggestions welcome to ensure I film a great project! I just bought a Pan DVC30, I will be buying an apple tower at the end of the month along with Final Cut Pro and in the fall I will be following a high school football team to make their highlight DVD. I have done it the last two years but without FCP and a semi-pro camera.

-Looking for a cheap wide angle lens if possible
-Looking for some more adrenaline pumping music selections
-Looking for any editing/filming techniques for football
-Looking for a conventional way to create my own rain-cover
-What tapes work best with DVC30's?

THANKS!

-Brittany

-Cheap wide angle lenses aren't really worth it. They'll either hurt your image quality, not really do anything... or both.

-Check out some local bands and see if they'd like to get some exposure by letting you use some of their stuff. www.musicscene.org is a fairly popular hangout for Minneapolis bands.

-You could try making a rain cover out of thick plastic sheets and gaffer tape.

-You can't go wrong with Panasonic tapes. PQs should be a reliable, and fairly cheap solution.

Well for sports, it is recomended to use a high-shutter, it gives it a better look.

I had a dvc30 for almost a year so I can give you a few pointers.

Look for DVC-tapes, something by that name, those work just fine for the dvc30.

A filming technique would be to always have a wide shot, so you can have a view of all the action, and if there is a huge pass then you can zoom in and watch the wide receiver stroll into the endzone.

It usually is easier with multiple camcorders.

Good music, hmm. Not sure, most music is over-used and gets annoying. Fort Minor's "Remember the Name" got over-played for me after a while.

I'd wait until a new song comes out and just use it. The newer the better, or as the poster above me said, maybe a local band wants some exposure.

I'd also try to nail down Final Cut Pro, read the books, learn about all the plug-ins you can purchase, learn about all the stuff you can do with Final Cut Studio 2.

If you do get your hands on multiple camcorders, you can use Final Cut Pro's multi-cam, a very nice feature.
