Footage with 2.0 firmware upgrade (cinematone 1 gamma)

Im going to shoot some stuff today with the black level at 0 I think, maybe lower. I would really like Frank to weigh in on this and why he has +15 in G-Log.

That was in 1.0 right? In 1.2 it's down at 0 and then you dial it in to suit your shot... am I wrong here?

Wish I had time to investigate this! I will next week but this weekend has been over
24 hours so far filming...not with my FS100 either :(

If someone gets a chance film a person! Red is not going to lie in regard to skin tones
that's for sure. And if you got a DSLR laying around snap a picture in the same conditions.
Might make for a good comparison, not completely scientific but perhaps a good base.

Just been for a quick outdoor test with this profile in Henley-on-Thames in the UK (2.0 firmware, 18-200 Kit lens, 25p, all footage direct from camera)...

had the 1.1 (latest version) of G-Log A and mine was set at +15, hmm.

My bad, sorry guys.
You start at Zero and then you dial it in to suit your shot , as legrevedotcom said.
There are articles and sites on my blog and the new profiles are an article first and than became a site.
I got it mixed up by copy and paste several profiles around. Just fixed it.

Actually those PPs are obsolete after the update and I have to figure out new ones.

Frank

The people around me don't want to be filmed, ha ha! even the dog's sometimes run away! But from looking at Kyle's footage the skin tones seem to be alright!

Definitely cannot wait to see what profiles you come up with Frank.

No one at the office today, this is me with a old guitar i keep around...
i used Liam's profile for these, v2 update, Angenieux 28-70, spot metered off a grey card, 500ISO, the windows behind me are f22, the wall behind me is f0.071, i metered the highlight side of my face at f4... so that's what i went with for exposure

screen shot 1 is black @ +10
screen shot 2 is black @ 0
screen shot 3 is black @ -5

on scopes the -5 is the clear winner, on my camera it looked the worst... in the suite it's the most flexiable by a long shot...

Skintones & highlights are workable IMHO

Really, hmm, will have a look at this today.

Here are a couple examples of skintones. And some blown highlights. Not very scientific since these clips are only using natural lighting. But for curiosity's sake...

So someone explain to me what was changed here? Did this add some perceivable dynamic range somehow? What changed in the gammas? Just trying to get an idea of what's going on here because some of these vids I really do like the DR I see which seems unusual compared to other things I've seen from the FS100.

We're still trying to figure that out ourselves Kyle. Sony has pulled something sneaky out of the bag, or maybe we're all just hallucinating after what we want in the FS100 and all of this is just a dream.

Good question, Kyle... I have no idea what exactly is going on, just that the values are different and, in my opinion, better. The setting I used before is now a bit sharper and more natural, post firmware update.

Off topic: Excited about your film! What was Standing Firm shot with? I'm sure it's my internet or something, but every site about the film is offline. You have a link? I'll be sure to put it in the queue.

Yea that's interesting they would change things so drastically...I'll check back here to see if anything develops.

I realized my sites were offline as well. Working with tech support to get it fixed. My movie site seems to be working but my company site isn't. StandingFirmMovie.com wasn't working for you? Thanks for the congrats! Can't believe my little high school-like effort is going to be at a Redbox kiosk :) Given how hard some guys work here on this forum, it really doesn't seem fair! Not complaining though, very thankful.

As your comment said, I am one of the 1,571 confused FS100 users as my picture profiles now look much different. Looks like the camera handles highlights
and reds better though and I don't think it is mass hallucination, it really seems they did something. So now I think we may have to start from scratch and
'redo' some of the PP's. I had some from Frank, James Miller, the CPF log, the Abel Cine picture profiles, and had created one of my own. I had a book with
all the settings in, so I could tweak and change settings. But now, I think we are going to have to tweak all of them. What I am wondering though, is there
some way, that I could upload a PP? For example, if I created a PP and other users wanted to try it, is there a way I could upload it, and other users could
download it and put it on a card, and then load it into their FS100? If so that would be really cool. Think if you needed some video for a film or
doc that you were working on, and you could contact another FS100 user to shoot something you needed from their part of the world....and oh yeah, you could
send them the PP that you had been using and have them shoot with that. I could see a ton of uses for this if it was possible....as well as just sharing
them with other users. Which would be cool in it's own way, easier to get feedback and so on if other users don't have to put in 25 new settings, but just
download a file, put it on a card, and pop it into the camera.
