GH3 Footage stutter (59.94/ 60shutter >> 23.98). Fixable?

Okay, so this is my own dumb fault and I'm trying to find a way to fix it.

I shot some footage on a GH3 at 1080/60p (mov). I planned to conform it to 23.98 in FCP Cinema Tools.
I made the mistake of not shooting with the shutter at 180 degrees (125), and instead shot with a shutter speed of 60. So now, when I conform it, of course, it's got a lot of stutter.

When I just drop the transcoded 59.97 pro res file into the 23.98 FCP timeline and render it the stutter is less pronounced, but still there.

Is there any way to get this footage into a 23.98 timeline and have it play smoothly? I don't need it slowed down...I just need it to appear to play smoothly. Or as smoothly as possible.

Thanks for any help,

tc

You can use Compressor to retime the footage to 23.98 (not slo-mo) so that it doesn't stutter. Instead of me listing the whole process here, I suggest Googling it. When the GH1 first came out, lots of people asked how to cut 60p footage into a 24p timeline without stutter. Somehwere in the archives of this site are links to tutorials and blogs about this subject.

Aren't you actually supposed to shoot in 1/60 for 60p anyways though when changing it to 24p? I heard that you really only go for that 1/120 when you're doing slow-mo with 60p.

Actually, you are right.
The stutter has nothing to do with the shutter speed and everything to do with the fact that 60 doesn't divide evenly into 24.

Right. I'm familiar with how to go from 59.94 to 23.98 in Compressor. I also double checked the threads suggested on this board (which are specifically about going from 1080 60i to 24p) just to be sure. I've tried transcoding several different times and there's still very slight stutter-- which is to be expected when converting from 60 to 24. I know. I'm just trying to find out if there's anything, maybe something unconventional, I can do to treat or alter the footage to get it to playback smoothly in a 23.98 timeline...some kind of frame blending, interlacing, motion blur... twixtor? just a shot in the dark here.

Thanks
