Footage shot at 3200 iso

We shot this quickly as part of a little thing we were shooting at a lounge in NYC. We were in really dim ambient light, and it was a small quick thing that we were not able to bring lighting for. I have not played around with the scenefiles much on the AF100, so this was shot at the standard scene file with the gama changed to cine-v. everything else was at 0. I have to say I was very happy with it considering the conditions (anything else I have shot with other than the MX would have failed), and cant wait to see how it performs once I actually tweak it. If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them.

For 3200 ISO, that doesn't look that bad at all. I was expecting worse. I assume that the noise looks more organic before the vimeo compression. I wonder how the noise would look without sharpening, since you left everything on 0. So far, I have kept my AF100 at like 200-1600 ISO. Was your lens really slow, or was the light really just that low?

It was that low. I am sure which lens I was on as I was rushed (my partner and I seem to remember throwing on the 50 f/1.4, but I honestly dont remember), but it was a pretty fast prime. My slowest lens in my kit is a 2.8.

I usually try to shoot it at 200-400, 800 max... but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Cool. For basically out of the box settings, it looks better than I thought. It took me a while to even try 1600 for a project, before I took the leap. Maybe I will have to try some higher ISO just for fun. The Nikkor 1.4 is a nice lens. I keep hoping to stumble upon a used 1.2, but no luck so far ...

Same here, just finding one in the right shape at the right price is tricky. I have seen alot of clean ones, but they are asking near what they go for new, so I am just trying to work a new one into a budget at some point, but the 1.4 is doing me just fine for $500 less. The 1.4 I have heard is basically as fast if measuring actual transmission of light as the 1.2, the beauty of the 1.2 is that it is ALOT sharper when stopped down past f/2 than any of the other 50mm nikkors (and all the 50mm nikon primes are not too shabby in the least). That all said, what I really want is a Nikkor 58mm f/1.2 NOCT... for lowlight the 58mm f1.2 is their fasted lens, and was designed for shooting wide open in low light. Only problem is they no longer make them and they go for $3k used. Bummer.

Yea, I saw that 58mm on one of those blogs about lenses. At that price, I would just get Zeiss or something. I dream that one day I will just find the 1.2 at a flea market or pawn shop.

I would love to do a test like this but with an external recorder. Although this is quite impressive I know it can be better with an external recorder since the noise will look better.

Hmmmm...Voightlander 25mm f0.95 is also a great option.

Yea, I have been looking at that, but it is on backorder. I'm also not sure how long I will be working in micro 4/3. I usually keep my cameras for 3-4 years, but I don't know what will be next. I could always sell a micro 4/3 lens later, but it is nice to hold on to gear.

I really want the Voightlander 25mm f/.95, it looks awesome, though I can't justify dropping $1K on a m4/3 prime... if it covered s35 I would be all over it. My 24mm f/2.8 Nikon is great and sharp, but a little slow for lowlight and I often dream it was 1.4 to go along with my 35, 50, and 85. (I know nikon makes a 24mm f1.4 G, but for the price I really wish it had an aperture ring, G lenses are a major turn off.) The 24mm f2 is a nice compromise, but it has a little more barrel distortion than the 24mm f2.8 (I used a friends f/2 before I bought my own f/2.8). I wanted to find it initially, but they are kinda rare and finding a decent one used at a reasonable price is hard (and I got my 2.8 like new for a steal).

Anyway, enough of my rambling... The Voightlander is a nice piece of glass, I wish it was for me.
