Hey guys. Just purchased a gh2 a couple days ago. Shot some videos (avchd 1080p 24p) along with a bunch of photos. For some reason When I put my SD card into my Mbp only the photos show up? Anyone know what the deal is? Crazy cuz when I pop my SD back in gh2 the movie files show up?? Very odd. Hopefully there is a easy fix. Thanks guys.

it depends on what format the sd card is. if it's NTFS it wont show up on macs, it has to be FAT or FAT 32.

have u/can u try it on a pc?

How are you accessing the files? Are you using a video player that can read the native files? Like AVCCAM Viewer from Panasonic? Or Toast Video Player? They don't just play with any old software...but you may already know that, since I don't know your experience level...

They are buried in one of the other folders.

First, before connecting/inserting a SD (or SDHC, etc.) to a computer or any device other than your camera, lock the card by sliding the tiny write-protect tab on the edge of the card. Sometimes computers & users do random strange things to data on memory cards. To prevent that, always write-protect the card before using it with anything other than your camera. Remember to unlock the card before inserting it back into your camera.

AVCHD (.MTS) video files are located in the camera-formatted card's PRIVATE folder, nested in the AVCHD | BDMV | STREAM directory folders.

A Mac can't play .MTS video files unless software such as the free VLC (videolan.org) media player software is installed. .MTS files can also be transcoded, played & edited by recent versions of iMovie, Final Cut Express, Final Cut Pro, etc. I think Perian & Toast can play them, too.

The difference is, editing software typically just needs to be pointed to where the PRIVATE folder is and the edit app knows where to find the .MTS files. With media players like VLC, you actually tell it to open the .MTS file itself.

Hope this helps.
