Following the screen grabs...

Here is a first short film from the work in progress from Fall 2004. Some of the pans are not perfect, perfect. I didn't had my new head (503) by this time. I'm working on the reflections one now.

I will also get Sorenson Squeeze 4 after some week with the trial version, that is pretty good to get larger file. Also, with the .Mac standard site, you can't put larger film size. :(

It is not the final version.

Re: Following the screen grabs...

I know this is not your final version but a couple of comments.

While I love Thomas Newman, I'm not sure the choice of music is the best here in my opinion. It seems to be slowing down some of the dynamics of your images.

I am also feeling that you are lingering on shots just a little too long which is making the whole piece drag.

You've got some stunning shots there and I think they will benefit greatly from a tighter edit.

Good work.

Hi Disjecta,

Thank for your constructive feed back as you always do. Even if I have some good photography skill, movie editing is really a new apprenticeship for me, this is my third editing at all and I can understand why we see so much peoples in the generic implicate in a movie. ;)

Re: Following the screen grabs...

Re-Bonjour Disjecta,

I have a question for you; when you compress with Sorenson and get this very nice quality video, do you do an output for MPEG-4 or you use Sorenson Video 3 pro codec ? I just want to get this software, but I want to be sure to order the good tool. Do I need Sorenson Squeeze-4 for MPEG 4 or the Sorenson Video 3 Pro Codec ?

Many thanks.

p.s.: I will take your advices for my next editing.

Re: Following the screen grabs...

Bonjour Shadow,

I usually encode my films using the Sorenson Video 3 codec but the version of the software I use is the Sorenson Compression Suite 4. It's a little expensive, $449, but the results are worth it.

Re: Following the screen grabs...

OK, you have the complete suite. For sure it is more expensive, Sorenson video 3 is $ 299 and Squeeze 4 is $ 199. From what I understand, you can get a better quality output with the Sorenson Video 3 than Squeeze 4 for MPEG 4 therefore.

Re: Following the screen grabs...

That's what I've seen. Particularly when there are different grades of color in a sky, for instance, Sorenson 3 is less stepped (like you would see on a computer screen with thousands of colors instead of millions).

Re: Following the screen grabs...

Thanks Disjecta, This has bring some more light for the software choice from Sorenson, one less. Now, Sorenson Video 3 pro codec or the suite. ???
