What are you guys using? I have a very old CAVISION thats on its last legs and needs to be retired.

I use the Redrock Micro follow focus.
Petrol and Chrosziel are always good – as i've heard.
Also, I've been told that Zacuto is releasing their follow focus shortly!

I used the newest version of the CAVISION dual follow focus on my lovefest entry (goodSAM), It worked great. no play at all (really!). It needed to be pressed hard into the lens gear to get it set, but after it was set, It worked really well.
I really like the Chrosziel DV follow focus unit (the single sided one specifically aimed at the DV enthusiast market). The feature that works the best for me (hand-holding w/o an AC) is that the scale is on a ring around the outside of the knob, instead of on a flat disk, as is the case with most FF.
This allows the scale to be visible from the viewfinder. I have permanently marked one of the interchangeable rings with the footage from the lens so I can dial in focus quickly by estimating distance - without having to zoom in to focus or remove my eye from the finder - it works very well...
I also have an older dual sided production Chrosziel (in my 16mm kit) but it doesn't work w/ the 500 because of the zoom-grip on the lens (it's in the way) - so be sure to take that into consideration.

I really liked the new cavision follow focus (dual-sided), I just took of my handgrip on the lens, and used my 15mm rail hand grips. I have only used an Arri (forgot which one), Redrock Micro (new one), and the Cavision follow focus. And I have only used the Cavision on Video lenses (Canon). Whats cool about the Cavision is that its cheap, It has a gear clutch, and you can buy all sorts of gears for it for $18. You can get the small gear with Canon or Fuji Pitch to make your focus rotation slower so your scale doesnt feel so tight. Its only $999 for the dual or $750 single side.
