Follow Focus tutorial?

Hi all,

As more and more folks move into Hi Def with the HVX, it appears follow focus is becoming more critical to your shooting. I just bought mine from Redrock micro.

That being said, how about a Follow focus tutorial? I did a search for one but came up empty handed.

thanks!

I don't get it. If you just got yourself a FF, what do you care anymore for a tutorial? Do you want to build a second unit for yourself??:undecided Sorry but I just don't get it.:undecided

Yeah, how to use it. Relax pal. What did you think I meant?

Thanks I, appreciate the feedback.

Don't worry pal, I am relaxed.:) I can only read your post, not your mind and your post was kind of open to interpretation, that's all.
If you would have asked for a "Focusing procedure tutorial" or "follow focus use" or something like that, I would have got it right without asking. Doug's AC book is good:thumbsup: .

Go to the CML web site. Search for focusing topics, there are a couple of good advice on those.

But reading Douglas Hart's book is mandatory.

Cheers!

Dan,

I didn't think the post was open to interpretation. Even if it was, there's really no need to make a comment like that. You came across as aggressive, and I didn't appreciate it. Let's keep it friendly.

Nyc - I haven't done enough testing yet to really make an informed report yet, but so far the little bit that I've done the images have been fantastic. Better than 16mm to my eye. Some other folks that are using the adapter have shot some amazing stuff.

Is too bad you saw my post as aggressive as I only got confused (first post) and offered an explanation (second) in your own words, nothing more.
Here is some good advice. on focusing procedure.
Further:
nycfilmmaker is asking you about the FF, if is solid, if you like it, what are the cons and you talk about the pictures form the adapter being fantastic.

Did I misunderstood this one again?

I am not aggressive in any way (btw) and take no offence for you have no reason, but (again) I just don't get it. If you want to advertise a product (or another) by all means do it (I don't mind that at all), just say so. :engel017:

No problem Dan. I probably wasn't clear in my first post. What I should have said was maybe some of the more experienced cinematographers could post a sticky on do's and don'ts of Follow focus for the newbies here.

Thanks for the link on FF by the way - very helpful stuff. I'll take a look at that book as well.

NYC - sorry, thought you were asking specifically about the adapter. I don't have the FF system yet. Redrock just came out with it and won't be shipping for another 2 weeks (I think). But as soon as I test it out, I'll post my thoughts.

thanks!
