Follow Focus on DSLR... mounting upside down?

Are there any FF devices that you don't have to mount upside down when used with a DLSR? I have an IndiFocus pro and if i try and mount it right side up, the gear box is blocked by the left edge of the camera. This is due to using prime lenses, which are shorter than zooms.

I can mount it upside down, but that means the gearbox is reversed so the direction I'm used to pulling focus in is now opposite. It's throwing my brain for a loop. Anyone have any solutions to this issue?

sometimes that happens with me...

hope i can explain it without sounding like a spaz ha, I have these extra blocks that screw on the bottom of the DSLR mount which makes the camera higher allowing the follow focus to slide passed the thick part of the camera while still connecting with the gear to turn and focus...Im using a 5DMKII

When I built the Aftershock GH1 Shouldermount I built it with the camera box high enough that I could move the IndiFocus follow in from the bottom side of the lens. It doesn't have to be moved upside down. I think the key is the position of the camera above the rail set.

We have yet to buy the gear for the lens in this photo. Best to you! -Gary :2vrolijk_08:

I raised my camera up just a tad with aluminum shims from Home Depot... ('bout $3 with new longer bolts) and then got this inexpensive QR plate to raise the camera up just a tad. Works GREAT with the IndiSystems Mini and snap gears on all of my lenses. For longer lenses, I spin the FF to the other side to move the small gear forward.

Here are some pix.

I had a GH1, and used only Nikon primes, and never had a problem, because the Nikon to m4/3rds adaptor spaced the lens far away enough from the camera to prevent this problem. But I've upgraded to a 5D with a Battery Grip and can't make it work for the life of me.

I'm wondering if that reversing gear will work with an IndiFocus Pro?
