Follow Focus Noise While Filming?

Hi there, I've been poring over these pages for months in deciding to get a canon 7D, so all my respect to everyone that's put in the work and research for this cutting edge of indie filmmaking. we're in a new era, and my learning curve is steep.

Right now I just got the DFocus and IndiRailsPro DSLRsm with the LCDVF (which I can't recommend enough). The issue is, when I put the camera on the the rails, not only is trying to get the "block" in the middle of the rails to stay solid, but to get it to the right height for the D Focus to catch. Right now I'm trying this with the Canon7D kit lens. (also have the 50mm1.8 and am ordering the Tamron 17-50). however, I finally get it all to go and the follow focus is catching but there's that plastic grind sound when it's turning. What the hell? is this the case and I just can't record sound with it or what's the deal? yes, I know it's a cheaper FF (I'm a student after all) but I didn't expect there to be a sound that would preculde me from audio. Any advice? Help?

Sadly, as you have discovered, the DFocus is not "silent". There's always a trade off with the lower cost alternatives. Try a "small" amount of teflon grease, and try to adjust the gears as tight as you can to smooth out the play. Between the two, you should notice a drop in noise.

thanks, teflon grease? where the gears intersect? its the plastic "grind" against the lens. is there another way?
I'm assuming expensive FF is ninja quiet? cuz wow, I put this on and was like maaan, how I'm going to use this?

what shoulder rigs you use? what FF do you use?
