Follow focus for newbies

Gotten to that point where I can't achieve the shots I want without follow focus. I shoot primarily DSLR, 1DC and 5D2. Does there exist a follow focus system that would satisfy the following criteria?

1 I don't own cinema lenses

2 I shoot both handheld and with sticks- monopod

Im ok with spending a bit more as long as the kit is worth it, and there is nothing else of comparable quality for less $.

Any FF will do, at least as well as it is constructed. Not owning cine lenses means you need to get lens gears, which are readily available and not terribly expensive. Other than that, you'll likely need to have a 15mm rod system and base plate in order to mount the FF. If you already have a rod-based shoulder rig, you'll be fine.

Past that, look around. There are used versions of all kinds available, and there's an ongoing thread here in Support Gear about a really inexpensive FF that seems to hold up to the competition quite well (possibly a re-badged Tilta).
