Folklife footage

Re: Folklife footage

Very nice.  Serious.  It wasnt just shots;  it looked as if you really took care to compose some nice images.

God I loved that initial tracking shot (steadicam?)  I wanted more!  That was a cinema tease!

The music was cute (for lack of a better word).  Reminds me of stock footage for someone who needs to give the illusion its bigger than it reaally is!

Very nice DOF!

Why do you mock us with that great shot!

Re: Folklife footage

Great stuff Party...I have recently just moved back to BC and heard so much about folk life...I am definitly going this year...

Re: Folklife footage

I really liked the look of this. Did you do any color correcting? Also it would be nice if you could put some of the folk music into this. Would kind of set the atmosphere of where this is taking place.

24p standard, no color correction[/quote]

Re: Folklife footage

thanks, the tracking shot was with a steadytracker from promax. I didn't put much tracking footage as I'm only able to get nice smooth shots about 50% of the time on that thing, though I've seen others do better.

The music is by jeremy delamarter, he's been getting some serious work lately. Here's his website:

Re: Folklife footage

Same settings for my "hobos" trailer I posted a few months ago:

I brought a 24fps file into cleaner 5. I used the sorenson 3 compressor (i don't have the pro version with the 2pass VBR) at Millions of colors+, Spatial Quality 100, Frame Rate: same as source, no keyframes, video data rate limit to 1500 Kbits/sec. I scaled the image size slightly from 720 to 640

Obviously a 29.97fps file would be bigger and take longer to load, and also I think that the servers that its hosted on is pretty fast (1 and 1 internet)

Re: Folklife footage

Very film-like. Good crowd shots. The whole thing -- very nostalgic.

Bumbershoot. I miss Bumbershoot. God, I just miss Queen Anne.

Damn you, Jeebus, why do you mock me?????

Re: Folklife footage

This reminds me of the idea I had for a 'dvxuser' stock footage sharing system. This is really nice footage.

Re: Folklife footage

Something to consider. Like Movieswedes SOUND Library idea. I'm going to Frisco in June and plan to get some quality footage (cinematic looking NOT tourist looking) of the city.

SPEaking of Frisco; anyone know if ILM does tours?

Re: Folklife footage

John, I'm working on the same thing. I'm heading to Miami next week and will get some beach footage, etc..

I tried to do the same in Boston this past week, but the weather didn't cooperate (and one can only assume it's more picturesque in, say, May).

Re: Folklife footage

LOL

Cold weather is a DRAG. I think it was like 68 this morning in San Diego. Damn that's cold! I was debating:

Sandals or Boots...

Sigh, the dilemma.

Re: Folklife footage

Lets not talk cold boys; you don't know how hard it is to get a high speed internet connection in my igloo...
