Foggy viewfinder tips?

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks to keep the viewfinder from fogging. Most of the time this is not a problem, but if I'm really huffing it operating (I do mostly documentary, so hours of handheld), or go from cold outdoors to hot indoors, the viewfinder will sometimes fog. I'm not using a chamois, so I thought that might help. What about using a chemical defogger? The kind one might apply to ski goggles? Curious to hear if there are any tricks out there.

Thanks!

Peter

Pour coffee on it! JK. I flip open the view finder for a few seconds or hold my eye a bit behind the cup. Also using a Chamois might ease the problem as it spaces your face further from the glass. I will bring you one next week.

Thanks Hunter! Yes, I do the pulling the eye away from the viewfinder trick, but when shooting verite with the HPX's already fairly small viewfinder, this can be tricky. Hopefully that chamois will help a bit.

Check with Film Tools, they have an anti-fog product for viewfinders that I use all the time - sort of like the moist wipes you get with spare ribs...

Chamois almost always does the trick. They are tricky to fit to a lot of ENG finders, but worth the effort. Of course, the price can hardly be beat.
