Fogged lens

Was shooting in an air conditioned area in the morning and went out of the building for exteriors but camera showed an error message. The lens was fogged and was unusable for a couple of hours.

What is the safe way of solving this problem once it occurs? How do you guys prevent it from happening?

Thanks

Re: Fogged lens

The DEW sensor kicked in, stopping the unit from running when condensation is detected in the camera.
Any sudden change in temp, humidity, ie from cold/cool to wam/moist will set off the sensor.

Remove the tape, keep the tape slot open, remove the battery, and it will dry out faster.

I concur with the above advice. This happened to me on a shoot in Miami last August. At first, I didn't think removing the battery would add anything, but it did seem to help.

Re: Fogged lens

Happened to me a few time ..

Going from cold outside ( I'm in Canada) to warm interior.

Usually we put the camera in the case or in the carrying bag before we go inside and let it acclimate in the bag for a few minutes. Condensation usually occurs outside the case, not on the camera.
