Here's some fodder for all you Mac bashers out there, not that you are in short supply :cheesy:

AWW! WTPP, PJC! That's that damn toenail demon! I HATE that thing. The most disturbing commercial on television. When it crawls under and peels back the toenail I cringe EVERY time. Thanks for making me queasy at 6:30am.

Hmm and I thought there was a disgruntled employee at Microsoft that was trying to trick me into going Apple with all the crashes, crappy security, and windows conflicts in my PC. Thank God I bought a $450 video card to play D3, FarCry, and HL2... just so I could watch it crash every 10 minutes.

My computer is more prone to infection then a road-rashed hemophiliac.

I see a used G4 or G5 in my future.

I've said it a thousand times... See "Pirates of Silicon Valley".

hey if there's anyway hold out for those intel based chips - then mac wil not only be the stable itunes open, checking your email, while uploading via FTP, while downloading via Safari, while rendering in FCP, while having a quicktinme movie as your desktop background, while you are doing something in photoshop without crashing, it will aslo once againe be the speed king like it was from what .. 98-01 or 02.

Cool
I just had heard that Mac was best for running ton of things at once and that PC's were faster at single tasks ... I dunno

Glad yalls systems are working for you - wonder what the deal is with Mattin's?

"songs in iTunes are strung together to create messages such as "Buy a new G5" and "You want an iPod mini" when listened to over the course of several hours."

Hhahahahahah I wouldn't doubt it.

The first time I was able to do something like all that was with my dual 1.2. I was loading software, testing FCP, watching a DVD, and downloading some other software. I actually paused, and had a little moment of "Now were talkin". It was the first time a computer did not hold me back. They have come a long way.

It's always disheartening to hear that other PC users aren't experiencing any problems what-so-ever (dashes for clarity)... because yes, my computer sometimes works fine and sometimes hates me. Maybe an old GF of mine got a comp science degree and made it her mission to F with me for all eternity.

I'm going to do a total clean re-install of WinXP and I've REALLY been dreading that... Plus I got this high-fah'looten Canopus RT card for video a couple years ago... and I often wonder if Canopus isn't running around like a little gremlin in my cyberspace. Sometimes when I'm editing, if I combine RT effects of Canopus with standard Premiere effects the damn thing crashes out of Premiere.

Lately my computer doesn't want to burn regular music CDs... I'm telling you the damn thing is possessed!

Through the years I've bought so much software that didn't work that I feel F-ed every time I buy yet another piece of software in an attempt to solve a problem that I didn't have in the last computer.

While my systems have been dramatically faster with each reincarnation they have yet to become rock-stable as I try to design them to be... that's why I want a Mac. I have friends on macs and I sit there in awe at how effortlessly they have a million things balanced on the head of a pin like it's nothing... then I come home and my piece of sh*t PC won't even burn a lousy 80's mix CD without a fight.

One aspect of my heaven would include one of those extendo boxing gloves like you see in 3-Stooges or some cartoons... and I'd hit Bill G in the nuts with it every now and then.

Never said I have no problems "whatsoever." If you use a computer -- any computer -- you will have problems. Compound it with anything as processor-intensive as video editing, and problems happen.

But I'd quite happily go toe-to-toe with any Mac user on stability, speed, etc..

Toenail Demon?? That's my baby picture!!

I wonder if Mattin your hard drive might not be bad.

I had a G4 12" laptop and it kept crashing all the time -- yes a Mac Crashing ... but turns out the hard drive was damaged -- it would run fine for stints and then crash. (it had been dropped several times  )

They replaced it and since then it purrs like a kitten. I have that and a 15" g4 and o can say that I've never had a problem with either since the 12" HD was replaced ... trying to think of one ... nope ...

EDIT: -- oh, once a month or so the mouse gets wierd -- but then I restart and all is good ... of cousre now I know better how to take care of it both in terms of software and hardware -- always repair disk permissions after you install something leave it on most of the time so that it can update and clean itself (throw back from dos that at like 2 in the morning or something it likes to trash things it doesn't need or that can cause system problems) Turn it off and on every now and then too so that it can update that way as well.

Prarie boy -- you can even do that with a new G4 laptop nowadys :cheesy:

Bah.. I run DVXuser.com, e-mail, MSN messenger, Photoshop, Encore, Rendering in 3Ds max, all WHILE editing in Premier Pro (and jumping to Encore for DVD building and phtoshop for CGs).
...on my PC *LAPTOP*.

Do all that on a MAC! (oh you can't, not Prem Pro or Max for the mac :-P)

lol  -- how does FCP and Shake run on your PC :cheesy:

one way where PC's def kick our ass - is games - probably a good thing though I haven't bought a computer game in ten years - but I wan that Movies gams damnit!

Hey Silverwolf -

That's interesting I had thought that in like 96 that whatever chips PC's were using (Intel ... motorola?) had maxed out at the top of their technology, So mac was kicking as like triple or quadrouple speed of even higher powered Intel sometimes, but that as of a few years ago that Intel had made some break and passed Mac and now mac was at the ceiling of their G chip technology - hence the shift to Intel chips. Which is typical Steve Jobs thinking outside the box ... OK we could spend tons on R & D or we could just use the same thing the competition uses. Done. lol.

But interesting to see the neck and neck stuff now -- I thought PCs were a lot faster than mac's now -- maybe they are for the money?

Well one of the reason macs are switching to intel is that processors generate less heat. The powerbook can't get more processing power because the Powerpc processor will run too hot for the small profile they want the machine to keep. the G5 are already running water cooling to keep the temp down .
