Focussing with Anamorphic Adapter

I have not had the chance to try an anamorphic adapter on my DVX-100. I know that the flip out LCD is 4:3 and I assume when using the adapter, the image in the LCD is distorted. Assuming this is the case, does that make using the LCD worthless for focus purposes?

Granted at wide shots, I can set the focus to 90 or so and everything from about six feet in front of the camera to infinity will be in focus. Unless of course the Anamorphic adapter screws that up???

Re: Focussing with Anamorphic Adapter

I have a .3x Century Optics Fisheye and I can zoom out until there is no vignetting and I can still see the focus working on the LCD.

The DVX LCD does'nt show the "full frame" - It's annoying and disappointing.

Which is yet another reason why, if possible, you want a real production monitor with you -- one that can show underscan, so you can see what the real deal will be.

Re: Focussing with Anamorphic Adapter

The image in the LCD will be "squeezed" when using the anamorphic adapter. That affects composition, but not focus. The adapter introduces a whole set of issues regarding focusing by itself, which would be there whether you were using the LCD or an external monitor, and which prompted me to write the dvxuser anamorphic adapter's guide.
