The problem with many adapters is that they don't aim for accuracy, they instead aim to "guarantee" infinity focus. They succeed at that by making the depth of the adapter ever so slightly shorter than it is truly supposed to be (or, in other words, the adapter is a little thinner than would be ideal). When they do that, it ensures that the lens can reach infinity because infinity is reached sooner. But it throws everything off. For still camera lenses this usually isn't a problem, as with still cameras the focus marks are only vague reference points anyway, but when you get into cinema lenses it opens up a whole raft of issues. Your zooms won't hold focus during a zoom, all your focus markings are off, etc. When you buy adapters claiming "Hit infinity" that only means that it will allow the lens to focus an infinity shot, not that infinity markings will be in fact infinity.
