i notice when on 24p mode, when zooming in (esp fast) there is motion blur and also does not auto focus itself, i find to correct this problem i have to manually focus. its a bit tricky but ive gotten used to using manual zoom with manual focus. should i just stop using manual zoom to get rid of motion blur? should i just stop zooming all together to get rid of motion blur?

In 24p ther is no autofocus. There's "focus-assist", which is reeeeeaal slow, so wouldn't help while zooming, anyway.

I try not to zoom at all usually, except for framing. If you want to get closer to your subject, use a dolly for best effect.

If you must zoom, though, you shouldn't need to worry about changing focus... just focus when zoomed in as close as possible, and this will keep you in focus throughout your zoom range.

Zoom in to where you want to end the shot, such as a close up of a head for example.... focus, and zoom out to where you want to start the shot... the whole zoom should be in focus now as long as you don't zoom farther than you did the first time...
