I know, I know - another anamorphic/focus question - just hang with me if you can. I need a FOCUS TOOL. If you need to remove a screw you go for the screwdriver. I see focusing with anamorhpic the same - just need a good tool. The question is what constitutes "good?"
Is there any differnce in using a "professional production CRT monitor" with 500+ lines of resolution and an LCD monitor also with 500 lines (like Marshall or Panasonic) for helping with the great focus issue on my anamorphic adapter?
I'll be shooting documentary in Central America and lugging the CRT ain't gonna happen. Fairly quick, portable, trusworthy (know it's in focus) tool needed.
QUESTIONS:
(1) To really KNOW your in focus is it just about needing to view the camera's shooting immage through something (anything) that can display the +/- 500 lines of horizontal res?
(2) If a camera mountable LCD display says it has 500+ lines of resolution (even though it may only cost $250.00) will it do the job - or is there some other feature about the CRT that is lacking on the LCD to allow for this low cost item to be effective as a focus tool?
(2) Does the Century Optics 16:9 eyepiece aid with focus or only aspect ratio?
(3) What display products out there (LCD, etc.) have other DVX users found that they consider effective for viewing/focusing?
