focus ring louder than usuall: help

so I'm not sure if my hvx was always like this, but recently I noticed that the focus ring is a bit loud. It sounds as if there is sand or something inside. Its not very loud, but I can hear it. Does anyone know how to clean the ring, or lube it?

alot of us have had this problem....
get it properly cleaned out. theyll take it apart, clean it and re lubricate it. not doing it can lead to the parts being worn down. mine actually began to change the focus without me doing anything (no i wasnt on auto) and it was makin a grinding noise at certain zoom points.

dust and grit getting into the lens assembly is a big problem with the HVX and apparently even more so the sony EX-1. dont take the risk, get it cleaned. unless of course you have the knowledge and skill to do it yourself.....
