Focus ring does not work!

Which model camera do you have?
If it is an original or A model... some of the internal cable connections were prone to oxidisation so would stop working. If your auto focus still works and only and it is only your manual focus that is not working it could be an electrical connection problem so a lens dissassembly plus cleaning so maybe $200-300. If it is a part that has gone then there is difficulty getting spares on Pre B models.
If you have a B model the cable connections are gold plates so don't oxidise. So this could be an expensive repair if parts have gone and out of warranty. However if you do have a B model you can always buy or make a manual focus control to plug into the remote socket (sub $20 to build).
