Focus on HPX 170

Hello,

I understand the HPX offers a histogram and extending bar to indicate sharp focus, but in what area of the screen are they indicating sharp focus?

In other words, can they indicate eyes on a face are in focus and not the nose or hair, or can they indicate a person standing in front of trees is in focus and not the trees?

In what way are they giving you confidence the area of the image you want sharp is sharp?

Thanks,

The focus bar seems to take about the central 70% of the screen as its range. The graph seems to be most interested in the center part of the frame.

Thanks for the info Barry,

So the focus assists on the 170 won't be helpful if the subject is moving and you can't zoom in to check focus. Do you think the enhancements to the 170 LCD screen make it good enough to focus without focus assist other than peaking?

Drew

The magnified focus assist can be popped on and off instantly, and the peaking is now quite excellent. Focus on the 170 is leagues better than it was with the original 200.
