Focus mechanism Noise with AT875R

I just received the xlr cable for my AT875R shotgun mic and so I just tried it out for the first time and I hear AF noise during AF and the same noise when in MF only when I use the focus ring. It is not mechanism noise though. I also hear the zoom motor slightly, but it isn't bad. The erratic humming noise during focus is a problem however. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what might be wrong? Thanks!

I have an AT875 and have experienced AF hum as well as tape mechanism noise with this mic on a couple different camcorders: the mic seems very sensitive to camera and handling noise. I was able to work around this by using a shock mount instead of the manufacturer provided microphone mounts. My Rode NTG-1 had fewer issues with cam noise, but seemed less sensitive overall when compared to the 875 - which I think is a great mic.

I know this doesn't specifically address your post, but... just some food for thought.

really dont rely on cam mounted mics for the best audio and learn to focus manually and zoom manually and it will rid you of all the motor noises and definitely get a good shockmount and turn on the low cut filter if your mic has one.
