Focus issues (incorrect readout)

I've been noticing some abnormal behavior with focusing on my HVX. I did some tests and it seems that the focus distance reading (in feet) is exponentially incorrect the further the subject is from the camera. At 10 feet of measured distance the readout is a couple inches off calibration. At 40 feet of distance the readout reads 60 feet when I do a critical focus.
I plan on calling Panny on Monday to work this out, but I am curious...

Have any of you guys/gals had problems with this?

Yep, this is normal for the camera. Check any of the manuals or online - the readout does not represent the actual distances that are in focus. I can only guess as to why. And don't bother calibrating the ring, unless you have a reset point designated on the ring for when you reset the focus to infinity. My answer to this problem is the Bebob focus, but that's my preference.

The real question is this:

Are the f/stop numbers accurate? How can I check/calibrate these numbers?

p.s. I have been looking for the answer to this question on the boards/web/manuals for months....
