Focus Gear Sizes?

I'm completely new to the world of follow focuses so bear with me...I just recieved my first one and it came with a bunch of lens gears, all much different sizes, only one obviously fit my Nikon 50mm, I was wondering if I wanted to order more, how would I know what size to get? I'm assuming not all nikon lenses use the same lens gear right? Whats my best option?

thanks, basically I'll just have to order the gear after i have the lens, no biggy i guess. Does any company sell "Universal" gears? like adjustable ones or is that impossible?

All you need know is the "pitch" of the gears. How wide the gears are spaced out. The Zacuto gears are prob a pitch of .8, so then you need a gear wheel, for follow focus that is .8. Then they will mesh together.

Zacuto zip gears are 0.8, and nearly all indie follow focuses are supplied with a .8 gear, so you should have no problems.
