Focus Assist + EVF Dtl

I'm a real numbskull, so excuse me for these questions

Focus Assist: I press the botton, viewfinder zooms in, i move the camera around until the little white line is near the arrow, then it is in focus, i hit focus assist again and my image is perfectly focused? Is this right way to use it? If i zoom back and forth does focus stays sharp?

EVF dtl: So i hit this button, i see sharper outlines in some objects... and then? What do you do? Are you supposed to align them? How do you use EVF correctly

Thanks

The focus assist pretty much works as you say. I tend to use my eyes as well as the little white line/arrow device, as it doesn't always seem to get it spot on for me. But yes, once you frame the shot, enable focus assist, focus the shot, then turn off focus assist, it should be in focus until you move the camera.

Normally I also zoom in, then focus using focus assist, then zoom out again to be absolutely sure.

EVF DTL is supposed to help with focus too - I think it makes the edges more apparent in the picture, showing more detail in objects (e.g. wood grain etc.). I have never really got the hang of it and normally don't use it.
