I have a gh4, according to the manual when hitting the fn3 button some options shoulder come up allowing me to choose different types of af methods. When hit the fn3 key on mine all that happens is a small yellow box appears for focusing that area. I am in manual mode. Can someone tell me why I dont get those options ( 49 area ect ) when I am hitting the fn3 button?

Thanks in advance

If your focus mode switch is in MF mode, you will have no options, as all of the choices are for AF-S/AFF/AF-C. But if you press Fn3 twice in MF mode you will get screen mag. - whole screen or PIP, with variable mag.

Peter, when the lever is in AF-S/AFF/AF-C and the fn 3 button is pushed it goes right to the maged image, it does not give me those choices. Is there a setting for this some where that I am just not getting or something?

Thanks for responding,

Then you must have a non-native lens mounted with a dumb adapter; or a native lens like the "lenscap" lens without AF capability; or a native or smart-adapted lens with an AF-MF switch set to MF. What's your lens?

Daahh - I do indeed have a non-native lens with an adaptor on this camera and shoot in manual mode. I have not used those functions in a long time and put this lens on mess'n around with it and tried to use those functions. I feel some what stupid.

Thanks Pete,

You should not feel stupid. We can't remember everything. That is why we call this forum a community.

You're welcomed, Rich(?)! At least no damage done, and not nearly as stupid a the time I backed my new sailboat out of it's slip without uncoupling the heavy 30-amp electrical cable, pulling the dock electrical box into the water, shorting out the entire dock. Or the time I drove out of the gas station with fuel handle firmly inserted in the filler tube. And those were when I was but a young man, but now pushing 79, there's fortunately no room left in the brainbox memory file to keep a log of my current lapses and mishaps as I stumble happily on!
