Fluid Head(+Tripod) for HEAVIER loads OFC Budgetfriendly

HI ALL,

I didn't really know what title I should give this thread. As there are so many tripod threads. And I,... want to add some more...
But I think they mostly handle the question for lighter loads, like DSLR, BMPCC, BMC, etc.

I'm looking for something that can handle +- 13Kg
So it's not super heavy, but definitely quite heavier than most...

At the moment I have, and am using a SachtlerVideo 14II
It is within it's capacity, but I feel it's fighting a bit against its limit.
It's not super sturdy, It has a bit of wobble. This is also due to having a top heavy setup.
With lower payloads it is a great tripod not too many bells and whistles, but very smooth.

Anyhow, a sparkly new tripod for that weight range is probably out of my budget.
Also I don't need too many bells and whistles. I just want it to be sturdy and smooth.
I will prefer 100mm bowl over 150mm bowl as.. -if I'm not mistaken- there are no solo legs (miller, gitzo, manfrotto) for 150mm.
Tripod's I've been thinking of:

Vinten Vision 10, although it shouldn't handle more. I've seen people use it with a similar setup to mine. Also looking at the design it seems like it's more made to handle heavier loads -with it's broader base. There seems to be a variety of versions which makes it difficult to find info on the net.
-> Any user experiences with this head? especially at heavier loads?
-> the Lame question: what's the price range on these heads / heads+tripod? I've seen them go for 1000 and I've seen them go for 300$… :cheesy:

Ronford Baker F4 or F7 or... (150mm bowl though) O'connor 50D (100mm bowl)
I know these heads are capable of handling that load. Easily.
-> Again the Lame question: What is a good price for these heads?
->Any heads/models that I've missed and should look into?

I also came across an old Miller 30 series I OR II. It's more or less the same story as with the Vision 10. Any opinions on that one?

Thanks ahead!

Do a search at Reduser.net - they deal with this question all the time (the original Red One was like 8 Lbs stripped bare). You'll find a much larger list of used gear to look for, mentions of services that restore classic gear heads, used sources, etc. Be prepared to drop some cash though, esp. if you buy new.
