Florida Networking

sweet deal. i'm looking forward to this. I guess I can go through all the pages and find everyone's email and send out a letter to them letting them know about this.

and squig i thought you lived in melbourne, guess you've moved since.

zephyrstar, I emailed you the other night, I'll reply back, but never heard from the other two guys. we can meet up so if this does go down we can represent Ocala.

I'm In Coral Springs, just recieved my HMC150 yesterday, learning it out, had a DVX100b. 18 year old Freshman(Sophomore at end of Semester) at FAU, just trying to do things. Know little to no one around here that is interested in film and projects, so if anyone has a project or would like to get into things let me know. Would really like to start working on projects, I really don't care what at this point i just love using the camera. So who's still around here? And by around I mean Palm beach/Broward/and Miami Counties.

man, i have no idea why i put squig when I meant to put quirk....heh, he posts a lot on the d90 forum so that's probably why. anyway, same question, but directed t you now quirk.

Are you sure now? Yes, I used to live in Melbourne. Now, I live in Orlando. And of course, not long after I move out of Melbourne, the ideal job I have waited for all these years finally opened there, shooting and editing.

Ouch, that's kinda lame. One of my reasons for moving to FL is that where I used to live in TN there was just nothing. I worked at a graphic art place for about 3 years, but then they had to lay off all their artists, so there were a bunch of us in the same town looking for the same kind of work when there was just nothing. Fortunately, the same company had an opening for somebody in Ocala, so I took that spot. I figured it was a good way to get me to a slightly bigger place, and I have Gainesville, Orlando, Jax, Tampa, Clearwater, etc. as places to look for potential work once this gets old.

I would like to help out with you project. I don't have any experience, but I am planing my own feature length shoot next year with a DVXa. I live near Leesburg. Let me know if I can help. Jeff

Meeting FOLLOW UP

Meeting FOLLOW UP

Hey all... Been planning to post to this thread for awhile- I am now ready to throw this out:

I have a studio here in ORLANDO (Winter park), right behind FULL SAIL. 1200 Feet of space, with office.

We shoot indie video, and do corporate stuf- your basic, garden variety low budget indie house with delusions of grandeur. We are currently in the midst of two horror shorts we are filming, tied to a feature spec script with a central story arc we are pitching.

The studio is a comfortable, relaxed, safe place. Gotta fridge for soda water and beer, microwave for snacks and a bathroom. Yes- we are air-conditioned. Got extra chairs and stools etc.

So- I will offer my place, free of charge this April 2009 at some point, for a trial DVXUSER meeting for FL users wanting to come by...etc etc etc

Hi again all. Been super busy with production last couple weeks, but just wanted to post a quick follow up about the earlier message.

YES. I AM STILL UP for this. We're just wrapping up production on those 2 horror shorts, and will be happy to show some footage at the meetings, talk about our sets, etc.

Kudos and shout out to Capt. Quirk, who helped with one of the shorts, with filming at house location and at studio. Thanks again Quirk! Sometin' comin' your way in the mail, BTW.

Look forward to seeing you all there. I have personally invited ELMY and Zephyrstar... Capt. Quirk, I hope you'll be joining us on the bridge too...

Car30, please consider yourself invited. I appreciate the offer of e-mailing folks- that would be cool. In fact, if someone can volunteer to officially correspond with everyone once invited and keep a list (and suggest other people for an invite) I would appreciate it. Just PM me so we can set it up and coordinate.

I am in post on two productions and three other projects coming in right now, so any help would be appreciated.

At this point, I need to find a date that will work for us. I'll be back in touch soon. Thanks everyone!

Douglas

Hey Douglas, like I told you before anytime you need help, just give me a shout. Advanced warning is appreciated, so I can make arrangements. As for the meeting, just need a date and time.

Not sure if you Floridians are aware of the Two-week Turnaround Tour (T3) being ran over at www.filmblazer.com. I believe the Tampa stop kick-off meeting is tomorrow (4/14/09).

Really cool project that these guys are doing...writing, shooting, & screening a film in two weeks at 14 different cities across the country.

Might be a good opportunity for some of you to get together.

Excellent. I'll be in Chicago starting May 7th for a couple of weeks, but before or after that would be good for me.

I will be in Orlando later this Month with my wife and wondered if anyone had an inside route to give me a creative tour at Disney? I have always wanted to do that to see how the creative staff work and to see the action in progress? Much appreciated if it works out.

Regards,
Brian

Film student at U. Miami here with an HPX170.

Now who wants to give me a job? hehe jk

Hey guys, sorry I've been out of the loop lately, but I'm back from my trip and now having to buy a new car (needed one for awhile) so it'll still be awhile before I can get my HMC150 :/ Still would love to do the whole Orlando get together thing. (have a car that will survive the trip!)
