Anyone used these products together? Does the Flip4Mac component truly allow you to bypass the Quicktime conversion step with HVX footage?

Haven't used it, but this is not what you're looking for...
The Flip4Mac MXF Import is for Sony XDCAM MXF files, which are *NOT* the same as the Op-Atom MXF files used by the HVX. This MXF module allows for the direct import and use of XDCAM. It doesn't do anything to preserve MXF features or metadata either...

From the site it looks like MXF support is only for the Sony XD-Cam Camcorder, PDW-1500 Compact Deck, and e-VTR IMX MPEG Video Tape Recorder. Scratch that - maybe that is because how you have to hook up each of the XDCAM devices. It has a setting where you can import any .mfx file......When I was downloading the trial version it says only support for DVCAM or IMX mpeg format. Doesn't look like DVCProHD,50,etc. is supported.
You would think that they could develop a similar system for the P2 flavor of MXF. Is there that much difference between how Panasonic's material and how Sony's material is packaged with MXF. I haven't the slightest idea really.
