Flight Sim on edit computer. Heresy?

I've read that playing games on your edit computer is a recipe for some sort of disaster.

I don't question that, but I still have to wonder if it would be possible to run the new Flight Simulator X and not have problems?

FSX needs a lot of resources to run well and my strongest computer is my edit computer, therefore the question.

Anybody have an opinion?

IMO - I wouldnt risk doing it.

My NLEs are like a sacred temple and the less that goes near them , the better like it. ( I rarely have any major issues with them either)

never... my edit suite is not even connected to te internet.... cant risk anything going wrong.. and definatly no gaming on it.. its only for EDITING. Not even photoshop..lol

i have anotehr system that i use for other work and gaming - if u cant afford two systems u gotta make a choice gaming or editing

I think it depends. I used to have a computer for just editing. I found since I wasn't doing consistent paid work, it was a waste of a lot of nice computing power. If you run a full time business were editing is common, then I would not do it at all, but if this is just a hobby, why not?

I have a few games on mine and I have not had any problems. I do however run a really tight ship and I don't install anything I don't trust on it. Or let programs run that don't need to.

yah i've had to many close calls with my edit suite when it was connected to the net, even tho i dont dload **** or view sites that are potentialy harmfull, after a few events of close call hear attacks i just said "screw it" and now the edit suite is on its own.... having months and months of work put into a project, i cant risk somthing stupid going on like a windows update or whatever.

My editing comp isnt connected to the interweb, but i do have a few games on it. Nothing as demanding as FSX though.
