Flickering on horizontal lines

I recorded a footage in interlaced mode and here is the result.

As you can see, there is a horrible flicker on the rocks placed on the upper left corner. When I play the footage on Quicktime the flicker disappears but on TV's and on Windows media player it is there. ¿How can I solve this problem?

Thank you very much!

I had the same problem and I use Adobe PP2. I played with my output settings and most of that smeared and flickering went away.
I haven't tried a Quicktime yet of the footage.
What NLE and settings are you using?
I think I used CBR(constant bit rate) instead of variable.

Yes on Adobe PP2 the flicker is away but on TV's and DVD's the problem is still there. I dont remember the settings but I've noticed that if you reduce the detail on the Scene Menu, the flicker will decrease a little.

DVD settings are where I was having problems. If you mess around with different settings then I bet you will get rid of the flicker/smear.
Try the CBR against VBR and also the 2 pass encoding.

If you are uisng Pre Pro 2 right click on the clip in the timline and select Field Options in the menu that pops up. In the Field Options select Remove Flicker. This will add a bit of vertical smear.

This type of flicker can occur in areas of contrast and over exposure as the edges of pixels are enhanced and the interlacing causes them to flicker.

Removing flicker with Pre Pro on "field options" reduces so much the quality of the video. What can I do? What settings can I use in the future to not to have this problem?
