2 days ago I went into my backyard with my camera and a c-stand. I forced myself to come up with interesting angles without the use of a tripod. I just started shooting and liked what I was getting, so I started screwing around with settings and such. Yesterday I decided to go out and shoot a few pick-ups of myself playing basketball, so I could tie it all together.

Here it is, I think it has a cool feel to it.

Here are some of the angles that I didn't get to use, either because I ran out of space for them, or they weren't as good as I thought they were when I shot them:

Nice colors. I also like the overhead shot of the hoop. The rim and net are a little blown out but the rest of the colors and feel are great.

My buddy suggested desaturating the hoop. I'll probably do that tomorrow.

that's great! what a terrific exercise and well done. I had to re-shoot something today because my shooting partner shot it so boringly, flat and blah, I couldn't stand to edit it. I think that is the sign of a good shooter..taking something very simple and making it visually engaging--withOUT overdone editing effects. nice!

I live in a house that my best friend lived in with her parents during high school. We used to hang out in that backyard every day, playing basketball, jumping on the trampolene, hangin out in the hot tub. Now most of the old crew is gone, but I still find myself back there.

It's just sort of remembering "the good ol days."

(Note, that's not what I had in mind when starting the project. It just started to come together that way.)

either that rim is really bent (in the looking up angle) or you can really see what squeeze mode does to your objects.

Wow, I just realized that I accidently shot that in 4:3 and then squeezed it. I'll fix that later.

The ol is from back in the good days.
