well im currently at a community college in my city studying film production and we are growing fast. we just built a new facility and we are receiving 2 red cameras in a month or 2 but i live in oklahoma and film is just now starting here and i was thinking of a different route. Anyone been to the flashpoint academy in chicago? sounds nice and i was debating attending it. anyone have any suggestions? thanks..o this is my first post but have been reading on here for quite some time.

My cousin is starting there this fall for game design. All I know is that they are a very new school. This is their first or second year I think (don't quote me on this though). From what I hear they have all the latest gadgets and gear. I would definitely do your homework in terms of research on this place since they are a newer school.

If I talk to my cousin soon I will try to remember to post any impressions he has about the place. Good luck either way.

Fall classes start on September 8th, Which I am also attending for Game development,

Flashpoint Academy has been using the RED camera now for a while, I know they used it on their film The Intruder.

Yes it is a new school, September 8th starts the second year for them, They are not accredited yet so it is a risk attending there, I'm hoping for the best. :D

O-triple-C, eh? What do you mean "film" is just now starting here? :)

Sorry, no insight on Flashpoint...
haha well i mean its not huge and i wont be guaranteed a job out of this program but im sure experience with the red camera may help. i was just looking at my options..... and yes o-trip represent!!! haha

Agreed! I live in Moore, and I was going to go to OCCC this semester, but Cine. was the only class I could have taken. I guess I'll start next semester.

It's good to see someone else from the OKC area!

The quality and background of their instructors counts for more than having the latest gear.

Find out what you can, about the faculty and teaching staff.

yeah i live in norman so im not far. well i know that we have a decent staff at occc but like i said before just keeping my options open. I mean the Gray Fredrickson one of the producers of the Godfather was my film and buisness teacher but that doenst mean im a pro now by any means haha. :dankk2:for the feedback

Many of the teachers are from Columbia College here in Chicago so I'm guessing you could pick between the two. I can vouch for Columbia. I guess it's simply about how fast of a program you want to do, two year or four.

It ultimately is a matter of whether or not you want to do a theoretical study of film or a more hands on approach. I do not personally go to Flashpoint Academy but have just finished several projects with students from there and I have heard only amazing things. I know that the school has professionals come in and give lectures and work with the students on projects. I know that the students all work together at the end of the year on a huge prject that include the sound, game and animation departmebnts. I know that half way through your first year there, the head of the department meets with each indicual students and asks them what the school can do to help them achieve their goals because the school wants to be known as a place that produces happy , talents people that companies are clamoring to hire. In fact I've heard that they have an issue with the professionals who come in to work with the studnets trying to hire the studnets. But the shcool wants the students get a full education before they go onto their first professional job. I'm going to the tour on September 27th and I'm very very excited. For an example of some of the work that is coming out of the school, check out this pages:
