How do I make text flash on the screen?

In FCP you can keyframe the opacity in the motion tab in the viewer. Depending on the duration you want, that could be a pain. There's probably an easier way to do it in Motion with recurring keyframes, but I can't think now.

Rather than the pain-staking process of keyframing the opacity, why not just create the number with FCP's text tool, set a short duration for it (should be the length of the "on" portion of the flash), and then drop that in several times, leaving spaces in between for the "off" portions?

Thanks C2V...I ended up chopping it into 15 frame chunks with 5 frame spaces in between...looks great!

One of the things I've always liked about FCP. Many ways to do the same thing. I didn't think of the video blink filter.
