HPX250: Flashing Green Pattern in Video Clips

Hi Comrades:

Just shot a wedding with my brand new HPX250 in DVCPROHD 720 30pN mode and to my horror, there is an intermittent, flashing green pattern across the center of the frame on all my clips. It only appears in the DVCPRO HD 720 mode. Did I do something wrong or is there a problem with the camera? I sure could use some help on this because I have a really big shoot coming up on Wednesday. Any help would be appreciated.

Try another P2 card, if you have one. 2nd, hook up a monitor to your camera, and check the pic. I'm leaning to a camera fault. Take your camera in tomorrow and replace it, if you still have problems.

Thank you, Johnny. Did all of that. Same thing. I don't know where or how to properly contact Panasonic for warranty work. The P2 website is not clear on that.

I just checked and I dont get what you are getting. are you in 60htz or 50htz setting? Im guessing this shows up in the camera and not just you editing?

I am in the NTSC setting (60 htz) and getting this green flashing band across all clips in playback on the camera and in playback on my NLE. It seems to be in the clips themselves. Does not happen on any other settings except the 720 DVCPRO settings. I am so confounded!

You only get it on the recorded clips, not when the camera is hooked up to a monitor?

Also, try a reset.

Only on the recorded clips. Do not see it on the monitor nor in the viewfinder during recording. Only on playback.

In the menu item 10 I think. Menu Init should do it but check in the manual ( I do not have one near me).

If you record a clip, and then play it back immediately, and see some sort of corruption, then definitely that is a hardware problem. If it happens only on one P2 card, then it's that P2 card (which I would find exceptionally unlikely, but hey, if that's the way it is, then that's the way it is). If it happens on all P2 cards, then obviously there is a hardware fault in the camera.

Sounds to me like there's something wrong with the codec board. If you have a firewire monitoring program like ScopeBox or Adobe OnLocation, I bet you would see the problem live through the firewire output.

In any case, I would strongly recommend contacting your dealer or sending it to Panasonic service.
