flashing "com"

Hello,

My AF just started flashing "COM" in the LCD and viewfinder. All seems to be working fine though. Anybody know what this means? No luck on forum / google search, and my hotel connection is slow and can't seem to download the manual.

Thanks!
Rob

Thanks Shooter. Have another full day of shooting ahead tomorrow--hopefully it'll make it. If not, I'll fall back on my hacked GH1. But man that will suck.

The first time it happened to me, I was told by the Panasonic service to push in the same time the "Menu" end "Exec" bottons (It's a hidden servicing menu). That time the flashing "COM" went off. But when after some time it returned flashing, I had to send the camera to servicing because some camera functions didn't run any more. Hope this could help you.

Thanks Pinobra. Tried that with no luck--assume you mean the uppermost buttons on the camera next to the viewfinder?

Yes, but I mean the knob used to go up-down in the menus. While you press the knob, push it upwards and simultaneously press the EXEC button for a few seconds. That should work.
But if you do not get lucky, then your camera needs repair. That's because the camera tries falsely a connection with an external device. The UK Panasonic servicing reloaded the internal software, I'm in Italy. I had no charge at all for the repair, and after one week my AF101 came to me. Since then, I had no more problem (cross my fingers).

Thanks again Pinobra for the clarification--that worked. I shot all day with the "COM" flashing, no problems, before clearing it. Spoke to a Panny tech--he didn't know what the message meant, but agreed that if it pops up again I should send it in for service. Weird...
