im sure this post has been made a million times, but here comes another one by a newbie..

ive got a dvx100b on its way right now, and im looking at good fisheyes for it. i film a lot of extreme sports but i plan on starting to make some short films.

I HATE VIG more than anything, even if there is a tiny bit i want nothing to do with it, so the century is out of the question..

does anybody have the 16X9 .4 super fisheye?
http://16x9inc.com/products/16x9/169-hdcsf4x-72-pan-dvx.html

the picture there makes it look perfect, but then again ive seen plenty of lens pics that later give off alot of vig..

any opinions on other lenses? any help is appreciated.

check out skateperception.com

i used the .45x on an hvx and it had no vignetting

and i'm pretty sure i've seen tests with the .4x and there was no vignetting.

I use the regular Century fisheye with my DVX
http://www.schneideroptics.com/ecommerce/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?CID=1076&IID=1727

Works fine with no vignetting at all (and is easier to clean than the MKII) and is bayonet mount (easy to whip off and on the camera)

I have the same thing and love it. The bayo mount and zero vig were my selling points and I picked it up on ebay for 250 bucks.
Most of this montage was shot with that fish, there are a couple long lense but its mostly fish.

that link isnt working for me..my computer doesnt like quicktime apparently today, and other links?

thanks a lot everybody!

I am a skateboard filmer and I use the Century fish. If you don't want the vignetting, then zoom in a bit in FCP or whatever you are using to edit your "extreme" or whatever footage.

yeah but if i can spend less money on just as good of a lens, and not get vig, i would MUCH rather do that. it just makes more sense to me.

I depends if you shoot 16x9 or 4x3, on my fisheye it's perfect when i shoot 16x9, which is how i shoot all my stuff, but i think it might cut slightly on 4x3. just test trhe one you want first.

i tottally would if i had money to throw around like that, but im realllly broke right now, so im trying to find the best for the least.

Timms!

Get the Century FEWA, I have it and it's great. I was in the same position as you and did a lot of research on the 16x9 and it seems to get a little vig in one corner of the frame which i didn't like at all. The 16x9 seems to be better for shots actually shot in 16x9 because it eliminates that vig in the corner. I would go with the FEWA, great lens for the price. Not fisheye but it widens the picture enough for what your looking for.

Is anybody here shooting with the Steadicam Merlin ?, I'm wondering if a DVX100b + CGA-D54 batt and one of these fisheye lens would be flyable with the merlin. Thanks.
