Fisheye lens or post production?

I have an interest in using a fisheye lens for effect for an upcoming photoshoot. Is it better to buy the acutual lens or use a plugin in one of the photo editing apps I have to to achieve a similar look?

It's always better to do what you can in-camera (for the most part). This one specifically, as a fisheye filter will only distort the picture you already have, and not add anything...

An actual fisheye lens will give a MUCH wider fov.

fisheyes are just awesome in general. My buddy just got one for his D90 and it is so much fun. Everything is in focus and barely any rolling shutter.
